· Get the name, address, phone number, and license plate number of any witnesses

· Get the name, address, phone number, license plate number, driver’s license number, insurance information, and the year, make, model and color of the cars involved in the accident

· Take pictures of the damage to the vehicles and of your injuries

· Get the police report number

· Make a note of where the accident took place (street names, city, etc.)

· If there is a chance you might be injured, go to a doctor or hospital immediately

· Report the accident to your insurance company

· Keep a journal of the impact that the accident has had on your life (document all lost time at work, occasions you had to miss, inconveniences, emotional disturbance, etc.)
